4, 7, 8 – Remember these numbers

It can get overwhelming sometimes. And when it does, remember this simple breathing method that can help put you in a relaxed state almost immediately.
Our health coach, @bonnie_tnc_wellnesscoach recommends this super simple 4-7-8 breathing technique to activate your parasympathetic nervous system – your body’s “relax and heal” mode. You’ll be surprised at how quickly this can calm you down in a moment of anxiety or stress.
How to best do it
You can do this breathing technique anywhere and anytime, but it’s best done when you’re sitting or lying down comfortably. Be sure to practice good posture.
- Lips closed, inhale for 4 seconds
- Hold you breath for 7 seconds
- Part your lips, exhale through your mouth for 8 seconds.
And that is 1 cycle of the 4-7-8. You can initiate a new cycle to help you sink into deeper relaxation.
