Celery juice has been making the rounds on the internet as the next big thing. But is it all that?
We are always skeptical when something is promoted as a cure to a whole host of issues. There are over 34,000 #celeryjuice posts on Instagram. What is the deal behind celery juice?
Of course there are benefits in drinking celery juice and for most people it's generally safe but it doesn't override an inflammatory diet or necessarily fix a root cause. This always gives us reason for concern - when one food item, superfood or drink is marketed as a cure for almost anything- it is frustrating when we see clients come in that have been following an unresearched trend and end up making their symptoms worse or abandoning things that were working really well to put all hope in a new trend.
Celery is a good source of potassium, vitamin K, and flavonoids—compounds that have been shown in studies to help keep electrolyte balance, function as antioxidants, and can help reduce inflammation so it certainly can be a healthy addition to your day but it is no miracle!
